The Karl Mayr winery is a direct marketer.

The wine is sold from the farm and also delivered to the individual Austrian federal states and to Germany or sent by DPD.

Since 1989 the Winery is a member of the “Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus”, whose aim within it’s strict borders, is to serve the Wachau’s wine culture – so a wine that says it is from the Wachau really is just that!

All varieties are pressed in the well-known quality gradations (stone feather, feather game and emerald). The company’s philosophy is as follows: “Preserve the old as far as possible and incorporate new knowledge of the wine industry as far as it makes sense.”

Guided tours of the company and cellars are possible by prior arrangement. You can also take part in a commented wine tasting in the ancient wine cellar (600 years old).

The extensive wine offer is complemented by an assortment of fine brandies. The aromatic apricot brandy and the spicy Tresternbrand (marc brandy) are particularly recommended.

Steinfeder

Fruity charm and lightness characterize the Steinfeder®. The name itself refers to the typical “Steinfedergras” (Stipa pennata), a grass which grows near the vines in the Wachau´s terraced vineyards; it is light like a feather, and fragrant – just like the wine named after it.

Federspiel

This classic dry wine is distinguished by a strong, nuance-rich character and is an ideal food pairing. The name Federspiel refers back to the times of falconry, when this favourite form of noble hunting was practiced in the Wachau.

Smaragd

The Wachau vineyard terraces and their dry stone walls offer a natural habitat for numerous plants and animals; among them the local green Smaragd” lizard that lends its name to the best known of the Vinea categories.
The grapes for the Smaragd wines ripen in the best vineyard sites of the Wachau. They are harvested late and are true representatives of their terroir. The wines are concentrated and powerful, complex and very long-lived.
